About Erik
Erik's journey in construction started at an early age, gaining hands-on experience both within his family's business and through his own ventures. He pursued his education at Western Washington University before attending graduate school in Oregon, where he became a naturopathic doctor. After practicing for several years, he felt drawn back to construction and founded a successful contracting business in Portland, specializing in restoring historic craftsman-style homes.
After his father’s retirement in 2018, Erik returned to Alaska to revive Dawson Development. Drawing on his experiences in Oregon, Erik has cultivated a strong network of local industry professionals including vendors, engineers, designers, and architects. In recent years, Dawson Development has shifted towards performing more work in-house, allowing for greater control over project timelines and quality assurance. This careful selection of subcontractors and suppliers provides him with the ability to prioritize his clients' needs and maintain a commitment to excellence in his projects.
Outside of work, Erik can be found spending time with his wife, Cori, a fellow Alaskan. Together, they enjoy exploring the wilderness, skiing, snowmachining, gathering from Alaska's natural resources, and renovating their own Anchorage home.
